Financial Action Task Force to meet in South Africa
Cape Town International Convention Centre
13 – 17 February, 2006
The Financial Action Task Force, the leading anti-money laundering body, will meet next week in Cape Town, South Africa. Under this year’s South African presidency of the Task Force, participants from FATF member countries will discuss methods to combat international money laundering and the financing of terrorism, and African responses to these issues.
The President of the FATF, Kader Asmal, and its executive secretary, Alain Damais, will brief journalists on the outcome of the Plenary and FATF’s ongoing work on terrorist financing, money laundering and their link to corruption. The briefing will take place at 1:30 pm on Thursday 16 February in the Cape Town International Convention Centre.
