The level of compliance with the FATF Recommendations for the anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing regime of the Sultanate of Oman is comparatively high for the region, and the legal framework is sound. However, the overall effectiveness was noted to be lacking in some areas. Parts of the terrorist financing legal framework need to be improved and the number of investigations and convictions increased. The evaluation of the anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing regime of the Sultanate of Oman was conducted jointly by the FATF and the the Middle East and North Africa Financial Action Task Force (MENAFATF).
