In 2018 MENAFATF assessed the effectiveness of Mauritania's measures to tackle money laundering and terrorist financing, and their compliance with the FATF Recommendations.

This follow-up report looks at the actions Mauritania has undertaken to address the weaknesses identified in the report and to meet the requirements of FATF Recommendations since their 2018 mutual evaluation and ensuing 2018 Follow-Up Report.

To reflect the actions they have taken, Mauritania's technical compliance on the following 31 Recommendations has been re-rated:

  • Recommendation 1 is re-rated to Largely Compliant
  • Recommendation 2 is re-rated to Partially Compliant 
  • Recommendation 4 is re-rated to Largely Compliant
  • Recommendation 5 is re-rated to Compliant

  • Recommendation 8 is re-rated to Partially Compliant
  • Recommendation 10 is re-rated to Compliant

  • Recommendation 14 is re-rated to Largely Compliant 
  • Recommendation 15 is re-rated to Partially Compliant
  • Recommendation 16 is re-rated to Largely Compliant

Mauritania remains in the Enhanced Follow-Up process and will submit its 3rd Enhanced Follow-Up report to MENAFATF in November 2021.
