Overall, Lao PDR has made progress in addressing the technical compliance deficiencies identified in its Mutual Evaluation.

The country has been re-rated on eight Recommendations:

  • Recommendation 3 is re-rated from Partially Compliant to Largely Compliant.
  • Recommendation 5 is re-rated from Non Compliant to Largely Compliant.
  • Recommendation 11 is re-rated from Partially Compliant to Compliant.
  • Recommendation 20 is re-rated from Partially Compliant to Compliant.
  • Recommendation 21 is re-rated from Partially Compliant to Largely Compliant.
  • Recommendation 29 is re-rated from Partially Compliant to Largely Compliant.
  • Recommendation 31 is re-rated from Partially Compliant to Largely Compliant.
  • Recommendation 38 is re-rated from Partially Compliant to Compliant.

Lao currently has 16  Recommendations rated Compliant/Largely Compliant; 15 Recommendations remain Partially Compliant.

    Lao's measures to combat money laundering and terrorist financing This report summarises the AML/CFT measures in place as at the date of the on-site visit, 12-23 September 2022. It analyses the level of compliance with the FATF 40 Recommendations and the level of effectiveness of the AML/CFT system and recommends how the system can be strengthened.
