FATF Plenary Meeting, Oslo, 19-21 June 2013

The 36 members of the Financial Action Task Group (FATF) and representatives from the FATF-Style Regional Bodies met in Oslo, Norway on 19-21 June 2013.  The meeting, under the presidency of Mr. Bjørn Aamo of Norway, was be the third and final Plenary meeting under the Norwegian Presidency.

The FATF sets standards and promotes effective implementation of legal, regulatory and operational measures for combating money laundering, terrorist financing and other related threats to the integrity of the international financial system. The FATF Plenary is the decision-making body of the FATF.  It is supported by a number of working groups.

The meeting was by Mr. Sigbjørn Johnson, Minister of Finance of Norway. 

At the invitation of FATF President Aamo, Her Majesty Queen Máxima of the Netherlands, in her capacity of United Nations Secretary General’s Special Advocate for Inclusive Finance for Development (UNSGSA),  addressed the FATF Plenary on strengthening financial integrity through financial inclusion.   For more information about the UNSGSA, please see their website.
