Paris, 16 December 2024 - Since the 2023 assessment of Brunei Darussalam's measures to tackle money laundering and terrorist financing, the country has taken a number of actions to strengthen its framework.

Overall, Brunei Darussalam has made progress in addressing the technical compliance deficiencies identified in its MER and has been upgraded as follows:

  • Recommendation 10 is re-rated from partially compliant to largely compliant
  • Recommendation 16 is re-rated from partially compliant to largely compliant
  • Recommendation 18 is re-rated from partially compliant to compliant
  • Recommendation 19 is re-rated from partially compliant to largely compliant
  • Recommendation 22 is re-rated from partially compliant to largely compliant
  • Recommendation 26 is re-rated from partially compliant to largely compliant
  • Recommendation 27 is re-rated from partially compliant to compliant
  • Recommendation 28 is re-rated from partially compliant to largely compliant

Today, Brunei Darussalam is compliant on 7 Recommendations and largely compliant on 29. The country has 2 Recommendations rated partially compliant.
