Paris, 30 September 2025 – Next month, the FATF will hold a webinar on extended confiscation to help countries improve rates of confiscation of criminal assets around the world, while considering safeguards to protect fundamental rights.

The session is part of a webinar series to promote implementation of the revised FATF Standards on asset recovery and help countries navigate the new requirements as they reform their systems. An international panel of experts from national authorities and academia will share their insights to help clarify what extended confiscation is and how it can be implemented effectively.

Key points will include:

• Definition of extended confiscation and requirements of the revised FATF Standards
• Examples from the panellists’ national experiences implementing extended confiscation, including challenges and best practices
• Case studies showing success stories of extended confiscation
• Discussion on how countries can implement safeguards to protect fundamental rights when designing extended confiscation laws and applying them in practice.

Participants will be able to submit questions to the panellists in advance when registering.
